Medrol Dose Pack Information
What to Know When You've Been Prescribed a Medrol Dose Pack
Medrol dose pack is a steroid that is given after oral surgery to help reduce swelling in the 6 days following your procedure. A reduction in swelling can help patients have less pain.
On the day of your surgery, you will be given a dose of steroid into the IV to help start this process of swelling and pain control, before the surgery has even begun.
The steroid pack that you have been given should be started first thing in the morning, the day after your oral surgery.
It is a 6-day steroid pack that will have very specific instructions right on the pill pack for how to take the pills each day. The picture below is an example of how this pack will look. You should carefully follow the instructions and take the pills exactly as described.
